Obituary for Allan Albert Davidson

Allan A. Davidson, 74, of Pinewood Rd. passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He waged a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Born October 17, 1943 in Fort Edward he was the son of the late Albert B. and Evelyn D. (Norton) Davidson.

He graduated from Fort Edward High School, Class of 1961 where he was an outstanding four sport athlete and played a mean trumpet in the High School Band.

After High School, he was an apprentice with General Electric until being drafted in the U.S. Army. Allan made the Army a career and retired in 1985 with 22 years of service. Among his many duty stations were Vietnam, Korea, Germany (twice) and England. Al was active in sports during his military career playing football, basketball, baseball and softball wherever he was stationed.

Following retirement from the U.S. Army, Al went to work for the United States Post Office as a clerk in the Glens Falls Office retiring in 2000.

Among his many enjoyments were bowling, golf, card playing, traveling especially to Aruba and Florida with his wife Sue before her passing.

Al loved going to Casinos and playing Blackjack. He made multiple trips to Las Vegas, Turning Stone and most recently the Rivers Casino in Schenectady.

In addition to his parents Al was predeceased by his wife, Alice Sue Davidson, brother, Bruce J. Davidson and his sister, Sharon F. Schlake.

Left to cherish his memory include his son, Brian A. Davidson, his mother and Al’s first wife, Lorraine A. Davidson of Hudson Falls; a step-daughter, Michele Hayes-Martinez and her husband Vincent of Fairview Hgts. Illinois along with their children, Allyson and James Kana and Vincent and Harley Martinez; step-son, Frederick C. Hayes Jr. and his fiancé Britt and his children, Jesse and Marie Hayes; nephews, Bruce, Sean, Troy, William and Michael Davidson; niece, Lorrie Lynn Schlake.

At Al’s request there will be no calling hours.

A Graveside Service will be held in the spring at a date to be announced.

Memorial donations left in Al’s memory can be made to the C.R. Wood Cancer C/O Glens Falls Hospital Foundation 126 South St. Glens Falls, NY 12801.
