FORT EDWARD –

Janice Rahmstorf, 83, of Fort Edward passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Glens Falls Center, formerly known as the Stanton Nursing Home after a short illness.

Born on December 29, 1934 in Newark, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Emerson and Jane (Schneider) Porter.

Janice married the love of her life, Henry Rahmstorf, upon return from his service in the Armed Forces. They were married on October 23, 1953 and spent 60 years together until Henry’s passing on May 27, 2015. The couple resided in Kenilworth, New Jersey for 35 years where they raised their two daughters Laurie and Cheryl and surrounded themselves with a close-knit group of friends. They relocated to Fort Edward, NY upon Henry's retirement.

She enjoyed reading, playing cards, bowling, and especially loved spending time with family and lifelong friends at Lake George. One of her favorite pastimes was also spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Laurie Rahmstorf of Queensbury and Cheryl Otrimski and her husband, Larry of Hillsborough NJ; her grandchildren, Brittany Flores and her husband, Ivan of Queensbury, Garrett and Carissa Otrimski of Hillsborough, NJ; her great-grandchildren, Nadia and Giovanni Flores.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 at the Church of St. Mary/St. Paul, On the Park, Hudson Falls, NY.

The Rite of Committal will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery.
