Robert E. Farley, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at The Home of the Good Shepherd (Moreau, NY) surrounded by his loving family.

Born October 30, 1926 in Sandy Hill, NY, he was the son of the late Edson L. and Florence (Hartman) Farley.

Bob enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943 where he proudly served his country in the Pacific theater aboard the LST 197 until 1946. He returned to military service to again serve during the Korean Conflict.

In 1946, Bob married Beula Bell in Hudson Falls, NY and together they raised their family for 43 years until her passing in 1989.

Bob was employed at Scott Paper in Fort Edward in a variety of positions. He retired after over 40 years of service.

Bob was a longtime member of the Durkeetown Baptist Church. He was also a Mason, a member of the Adirondack Fiddlers, the Hudson Falls American Legion Post 574, The Moreau Emergency Squad, and the Glad Rag Square Dancers.

Bob enjoyed woodworking and growing vegetables in his garden. Most of all, he enjoyed helping people. He would fix things for anyone that asked, including construction projects, working on cars, or helping out with their problems. Bob was very proud of being a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 50 years and helping countless people along the way on their journey to sobriety.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Bob is predeceased by his son, Forrest Farley, his sister Evelyn Jacobie, his daughter-in-law Dorrie Farley, and his half-sister Julie Baker.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; James Farley (Eleesa) of Bel Air, MD, Tim Farley of Scotia, NY, and Robin Roumeliotis (John) of Lititz, PA, his grandchildren; Robert Farley (Melanie), Tonya Schlekat (Alec), Sharleena Farley, James Farley(Stephanie), Shane Farley (Jennifer), and Yiorgos Roumeliotis, his great-grandchildren; Nicholas Bonafede, Abigail Foyt, Ivan Schlekat, Ariel Rickson, Destanie Farley, and Azraelle Farley, his half-brothers, Eddie Farley and Brian Farley, his longtime companion Elsie Clute, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 11-1pm on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803. A funeral service will follow calling hours at 1pm at the funeral home with Rev. Ken Prater of the Durkeetown Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will take place at Moss Street Cemetery in the spring.

Memorial donations in Robert’s name can be made to the Moreau Emergency Squad, 1583 State Route 9, Fort Edward, NY 12828.
