Obituary for Robert Glenn "Bob" Wood
South Glens Falls
Robert Glenn Wood, 70, finished his long journey with Alzheimer’s on Monday, February 19, 2018, with his wife by his side on their 47th anniversary.
Born on June 26, 1947, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Ray Robert and Mildred (Norton) Wood.
He graduated from Granville High School and after graduation went on to serve in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970. On February 19, 1971, Bob married the love of his life, Mary Hadeka in Granville. Bob worked at General Electric in Fort Edward for 38 years until his retirement in 2003.
Bob loved camping and traveling; he took a trip of a lifetime out west in May of 2017. He was an avid Red Sox and Packer fan. Bob enjoyed his summers on the St. Lawrence River, but he especially enjoyed sitting on his back porch listening to 80’s and 90’s rock and roll while drinking a cold Coors Light.
In addition to his parents, Bob is predeceased by his siblings, Shirley Glasier Monty and Ray Norton Wood.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Mary; his two sons, Brian Wood and his wife, Marybeth of South Glens Falls, Doug Hale and his wife, Cortney of Salem; his grandchildren, Steven, Ryan, Hunter, David, Cameron, Landon and Jackson; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 10 to 11am on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at St. Michael Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Ave, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.
A Prayer Service will follow the calling hour at 11am at church with Rev. Guy A. Childs, pastor officiating.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Saratoga Center B2 Unit and Saratoga Community Hospice for their excellent care, compassion and comfort.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bob’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. Northeastern NY Chapter, Pine West Plaza, Building 4, Suite 405, Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12205.
