Gorman Harlan Rich
SOUTH GLENS FALLS

Gorman H. Rich, 86, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Glens Falls Hospital with his family by his side.

Born September 6, 1931 in Whitehall, NY, he was the son of the late Harold and Cora (Constant) Rich.

Gorman married Marion Williams on September 8, 1951 at the Whitehall Methodist Church and together they raised their family until her passing in 2014.

Gorman grew and sold Christmas trees, as well as worked on the railroad in Whitehall, NY. He was a Corrections Officer for the State of New York for 10 years. Gorman was the sole proprietor of Rich Aluminum of South Glens Falls from 1951 to 1997 where he said, “We’re not here to ask why, we’re here to beautify…”

Gorman loved spending winters in Florida with Marion. They also enjoyed many cruises and tropical vacations. He loved trapping, hunting, and fishing, as well as taking the snowmobile out to go ice fishing. He enjoyed boating at his camps in Vermont and Glen Lake. Gorman’s greatest joy was working on his flower gardens and koi pond. He loved studying the stock market with a glass of fine wine. He was a self-proclaimed restaurant critic, with only The Peppermill passing his exacting standards. Although Gorman was outspoken, he always made everyone laugh. He was always there to lend a helping hand to any family, friends, or neighbors without question.

In addition to his parents and wife Marion, Gorman was predeceased by his brothers, Donald Smith, and Robert, Leslie, and Roland Rich.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; Cindy Rich-Sheets and her husband William, and Robin Bosford and her husband Richard, his grandchildren; Suzanne Colilla and her husband Dan, William Sheets, Nicholas Seeley and his wife Leslie, Jennifer Cook and her husband Dave, Daniel Bosford and his wife Crystal, Dean Bosford and his wife Maria, and Erin Kenyon and her husband Josh, his great-grandchildren; Katherine, Robert and Fiona Colilla, Tyler and Hanna Seeley, Connor, Owen and Avery Cook, Alex, Lucas, Alana, and Gregory Bosford, and Gracie and Reese Kenyon, “Aunt” Cathy Sheets, his brothers; Harold Rich Jr. and Lloyd Rich, as well as close family friends Nancy Ostrander and Debbie Fish.
