FORT EDWARD

E. Mason Ormsby Jr. 70 passed away on March 22, 2018 at home in Holly Hill, FL.
Born October 22, 1947 at the Glens Falls, NY Hospital. He was the son of Mason and Louise (Robinson} Ormsby of Fort Edward, NY. He is predeceased by his parents.
Mason lived in Fort Edward but went to Hudson Falls Central High School and Graduated, Class of 1965. He enjoyed baseball and track and lettered in track his senior year.
After High School he attended Dutchess Community College for Architecture for one semester. After which, he was drafted into the Army in 1966. He spent 2 tours in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1969.
After some time of readjustment from military life, he married Susan Mason of Corinth, NY. Susan gave Mason a son, Matthew, which made three boys in the house including his two stepsons James “Jimmy” and Michael Hayes.
He worked full time at Finch & Pryne Paper Co while attending Adirondack Community College studying Electrical Engineering. In 1977, he moved his family to New Smyrna Beach, FL to attend Florida Technological University, now called the University of Central Florida to enroll in their Electrical Engineering Program. He remained in Florida as an Electrical Contractor supervising the installation of Electrical Systems on all types of commercial buildings. He truly enjoyed his work and retired in 2007, restricted with COPD and a triple heart bypass, from years of smoking.
Divorced in 1984, he married Virginia Dear of Ormond Beach, FL in 1987. They were blessed with two sons, Bryce Oliver and Brandon Allen Ormsby. Both still reside in the Volusia County area.
Mason loved to travel and loved history. Early in life, he traveled to Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, Philippines, Australia and Europe and throughout the United States for work. He loved baseball and golf and hit a lot of golf balls; not always where he wanted them to go. He also spent a lot of time on the beach.
Mason was a person in long-term recovery since April 1984 and remained so until his passing. He was involved in Narcotics Anonymous for over 33 years throughout the Florida Region, and was instrumental in establishing many N.A. meetings throughout the Volusia County area.
