Anna Marie Abare, 90, passed away Tuesday, May 01, 2018 peacefully at her home.

Born October 5, 1927 in Fortsville she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Mary (Freeburn) Howe.

On the evening of October 19, 1946 she married the love of her life Edward “Eggie” Abare at the Fortsville United Methodist Church by Rev. George Robinson.

Anna was a lifelong member of the Fortsville United Methodist Church, Superintendent of Sunday School for many years, and held various positions in the United Methodist Woman. She was also known for her pie baking for 46 years.

She loved children and worked diligently for the youth of South Glens Falls by providing an ice skating rink, ice skates, socks, hats, and mittens for all the children for 25 years. Anna enjoyed baking, spending time with her grandchildren and family.

In addition to Anna’s parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward “Eggie” Abare; her son, William Abare; brothers, David Howe; Donald Howe; sister-in-law, Helen Howe; brother-in-law, Wilson Stanton.

Left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Nancy (Bill) Smith, Sally Swinton, Cheryl (Richard) Stark, Ellen (Ed) Giunco, and Carrie (Michael) Gray; her sons, Bruce (Sandy) Abare, Brian (Debbie) Abare, and Dennis Abare; daughter in law Dawn Quackenbush; her sister, Geraldine Stanton; along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Fortsville United Methodist Church, 402 Fortsville Road, Gansevoort, NY 12831.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. following the calling hours with Rev. Paul Dufford officiating with Rev. Robert Jeffers co officiating.

Burial will follow at Griswold Cemetery, Gansevoort, NY 12831.
