Obituary for Stanley E. "Stan" Ovitt

Argyle

Stanley E. Ovitt, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 4, 2018 in Argyle.

Born in Luzerne on June 20, 1935, he was the son of the late Benjamin Ovitt and Ernestine (Ellithorpe) Ovitt Bovee.

Stan attended Queensbury High School. In 1955, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country till 1957.

On June 21, 1958, Stan married the love of his life Mary Ann Bain at the Argyle Presbyterian Church.

He worked for many years at the Big Cross Street School in Glens Falls before his retirement.

Stan enjoyed hunting in the Adirondacks and the Rockies with his son Steven. He was very proud of the white tail deer he shot in the Adirondacks and the elk and mule deer from the Rockies. Stan built his house and assisted in building houses for his children and their families. He also enjoyed traveling the country with Mary Ann and loved spending time with his family especially, his grandchildren who he was very proud of.

Along with his parents, Stan is predeceased by his sisters, Cheryl Ann Ovitt, Thelma Ballou, Janet Tucker, Karen Monrian, and Adele Tucker Ballou.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 60years Mary Ann Ovitt, children, Suzanne Ovitt Buell (Don), Steven Ovitt (Sylvia), grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Buell, Mitchell Ovitt Buell, Stephanie Lauren Ovitt, and Shannon Mary Ovitt, siblings, Robert Ovitt (Myrtle), Lorraine Jarvis, and David Bovee (Kristie), along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call from 2-4pm on Sunday May 6, 2018 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home 123 Main Street, Argyle, NY 12809.

Funeral service will be conducted following calling hours at 4pm at the funeral home with Rev. Bryan Fitzgerald, Associate Pastor of the Argyle Presbyterian Church

Burial will be at 10am on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Prospect Hill, Argyle.
