Iona Pollock, 95, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Stanton Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre.

Born April 23, 1923 in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late William and Pauline (Wood) Mallory.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Gansevoort and a lifelong member of the Eastern Star.

On September 4, 1940 Iona married Clifford E. Pollock in South Glens Falls.

Iona enjoyed flowers, gardening and helping the town of Gansevoort anyway she could. She the town tax payer for three terms and assistant town clerk in Northumberland. In 1989 she was involved with the local officials for the opening of the new Post Office and Highway Department, the bicentennial event in 1998 and was the president in 1958 for the Women’s Auxiliary at the Firehouse in Gansevoort.

In addition to her parents, Iona was predeceased by her husband, Clifford E. Pollock; daughter, Joyce LaPoint Deitrich; grandson, Mark Langworthy; son-in-law, Roger E. Langworthy; sister, Lillian Brown; brother, Billy Mallory.

Left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Dottie Langworthy and Alice Durant; grandchildren, Mechelle Roskiewicz and her husband James, Melisse Robinson and her husband Michael, Connie Hare, Kristine Hare, Dean Hare, Keith LaPoint and Kim LaPoint; along with many greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends in the Gansevoort area.

At the family’s request there will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be held at 1p.m. on Friday June 8, 2018 at Greenwich Cemetery.
