Condolence: I had the honor and pleasure of being a very close colleague and friend of Brooks's for more than three decades in NYC. Brooks was a gentle and kind man and among our many brilliant French horn colleagues for me he stood out as the most lyrical player I ever heard. We all strived to "sing" through our horns. Brooks actually did. Incredible. But I repeat: he was also a very gentle and kind man and a loyal friend. We kept in touch periodically after he retired and I will miss and rare but wonderful phone calls. May my dear friend rest in peace.

Condolence: Playing Les Miz next to Brooks was one of the highlights of my career. Every show was like a lifetime of lessons. He is often in my thoughts and will continue to be.
Condolences.

Condolence From: Richard Reissig
Condolence: Very sad to learn of Brooks passing. We sat next to each other on the Juilliard Orchestra 1958 tour to Europe. (1958 Worlds Fair in Brussels)
While at Juilliard, Brooks and I were both students of James Chambers, solo horn of the NY Philharmonic.
I remember Brooks as a giant among horn players, especially those of us who played the Conn 8D French Horn.
Brooks was a good friend of mine. I will miss him.
