Obituary for Marjorie Emma Harke (Liddle)

Marjorie Emma (Liddle) Harke, 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2015, at the Fort Hudson Health Center, in Fort Edward.

She was born April 3, 1925 in Argyle NY. She was the daughter of the late John C. and Edna Foster Liddle.

Marjorie graduated from Argyle Central School in 1942. She began her education at the Goose Island School House, where she walked to school every day and enjoyed telling the many stories of her daily journey. Marjorie was employed by Argyle Central School as the Cafeteria Manager for 25 years. She retired in 1990. Marjorie was a member of the Argyle Presbyterian Church for 77 years.

Marge enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens for many years. She loved to bake and share her goodies with her grandchildren, nieces, nephews and neighbors. She continued walking several miles on “her road”, (Goose Island) until she was well into her eighties.

Besides her parents Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, Charles F. Harke; her brothers Kenneth, Stanley, and David Liddle; her sisters, Florence Tripp, Ruth Dixon, and Marion Labosier.

Left to cherish her memory include her children, Paul Harke and wife Susan, John Harke and wife Robyn; her grandchildren, Rebecca, Bradley and Sullay Harke; great grandchild, Mykah-John Harke; her brother Robert Liddle; her sisters Dorothy Tripp, Betty Goodsell, Patricia Jeckel along with many nieces and nephews.

At Marjorie’s request there will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will take place at 1pm on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the Prospect Hill Cemetery with Rev. Steve McLean officiating the graveside service.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Fort Hudson Health Center for their compassionate care during her short stay in rehab. We would also like to thank all her caregivers with Peg’s Angels and her very special caregiver, Chris Jones. Mom was blessed to have all of these people in her life.
