Obituary for MaryJane King (Catone)

MaryJane  King (Catone)
FORT EDWARD - MaryJane King, 84, of McCrea St., passed away on Monday, July 9, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Ballston Spa on January 16, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jane (Strianese) Catone.

MaryJane was a graduate of Fort Edward High School, Class of 1945.

She married Jack King in St. Joseph Church, Fort Edward. Together they raised seven children until Jack’s death on Nov. 3, 1961. After the death of her husband, she devoted her whole life to raising her children.

MaryJane was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Morrissery #1477 and a former member of the Fort Edward Branch of the Glens Falls Hospital Guild.

For 43 years, she was the Attendance Officer for the Fort Edward Union Free School District. She also worked at Mallinckrodt in Argyle.

As a young child she was voted “Miss Cossayuna”.

Her greatest joy was her family. She loved being around and spending time with all her children and grandchildren. She took great pride in all their accomplishments. She loved her home and making it comfortable for family and friends.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Jack King, her sisters, Dolores Bardin and Sylvia Durkin, her son-in-law, Mark LaPan, her sisters-in-law, Mary McCarthy and Jayne LaSarso, and her brothers-in-law, Thomas Durkin and Ben Bardin.

Left to celebrate her memory are a son, Michael King and his wife Debbie of Queensbury, a daughter, Colleen LaPan of Fort Edward, a son, Bobby King and his wife Yam of Attleboro, MA, a daughter, Carol Cooney and her husband Jim of South Glens Falls, a son, Jack (J R) King of South Glens Falls, a daughter, Nancy Williams and her husband Peter of Fort Edward and a daughter Ann Hendricks and her husband Paul of Fort Edward, her grandchildren Adam King and his wife Christine and their children Brittney and Owen, Laura Murphy and her husband Patrick, Dr. Elizabeth Cooney, Patrick Cooney, John Cooney, Ashley Williams and her fiancé Patrick Burke, Andrew Williams, Daniel King, Robert Hendricks and Meghan Hendricks; sisters, Anita Sears and her husband Jack of Fort Edward and Sandra Collins and her husband Joseph of Hudson Falls; daughters-in-law Patti King of Bridgewater, MA and Diane King of Hudson Falls; sister-in-law Sally Godfrey and her husband Larry of Fort Edward; brothers-in-law, Jack McCarthy of Hudson Falls and Frank LaSarso of Fort Edward, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Friends may call on Wednesday, July 11 from 4 – 7 at the M. B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward. On line condolences may be sent to www.kinmerfuneralhome.com.

A mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Broadway, Fort Edward with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor, officiating. Pall Bearers will be her 6 grandsons.

Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fort Edward.
