Obituary for William Charles Nicholson

SOUTH GLENS FALLS-

William Charles Nicholson, 62, recent resident of Malta, passed unexpectedly August 14, 2012, surrounded by his wife and children at his side.

Born in Saratoga on June 1, 1950, he was the son of the late William Russell and Dorothy (Donnelly) Nicholson. He was raised in and spent his childhood in Ketchum’s Corner on his parents dairy farm. He raised his children Tammy and Josh in South Glens Falls.

Bill dedicated his life to his family. Bill was an extremely dedicated son, father, husband and “poppy”. Bill was very proud of his children, and would do anything and for them and the rest of his family. He will be remembered for his quick wit, sarcasm and his absolute love for his family.

He worked for many years at Scott Paper Company in Fort Edward, NY until he returned to college in 1985.

After graduating from ACC in 1988 as an RN, he worked at the Ellis Hospital and Glens Falls Hospital. Bill was very proud of his accomplishments of becoming a registered nurse and helping people. He was a captain and EMT at the Moreau Emergency Squad for many years.

He was a master carpenter. He loved his antique cars which he won many trophies for. He was extremely proud of his ’34 Chevy.

Bill is predeceased by his aunt Clara Doocey, uncle Richard and aunt Ardeth Pingrey and their daughter Janice Pinkowski.

William is survived by his loving wife Barbara Vitale Nicholson, his son Joshua W. and his wife Margaret Nicholson, his daughter Tammy E. Nicholson, his twin grandchildren Jacob and Gabrielle Nicholson, three step grandchildren, Kayla, Jacob and Hope Skellie, Cousins Dorothy and her husband Edward Gettings, Pamela Noonan, Cheryl and her husband Tony Washburn.

A special thanks to Donald Ostander, a lifelong friend, for all his support and help to Bill and his family.

Friends and family may call from 4-7pm on Friday August 17, 2012 at M.B Kilmer Funeral Home located at 136 Main Street So. Glens Falls, NY 12803.

Funeral Service will be at 10am on Saturday August 18, 2012 at the M.B Kilmer Funeral Home with Pastor Patricia Atwell officiating.

Burial will be held at Southside Cemetery at located at corner of William and Gansevoort Road (Route 32) South Glens Falls.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Alzheimers Memory Center of the Albany Medical College Neurosciences Institute at 47 New Scotland, MC 65 Albany, NY 12208.
