Obituary for Marian Louise "Mary Lou" Cornell (Osborne)

Marian Louise “Mary Lou” (Osborne) Cornell, 85, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016 at her home on Glen Lake surrounded by her family after a 4-year battle with Parkinson’s.

Born November 4, 1931 in Hartford she was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Edith (Cross) Osborne.

Mary Lou married John Wm. “Bill” Cornell on May 24, 1953, he died November 18, 1992.

She retired from Hartford Central School in 1988 after 20 years of employment in the cafeteria.

Mary Lou was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartford since 1947. She held various offices of Deaconess, clerk & treasurer. Played in the original hand bell choir. She also belonged to the Argyle Highland Quilters Guild making quilts for all her children, grandchildren & great grand babies. She also enjoyed family genealogy.

In addition to Mary Lou’s parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Richard C. Osborne.

Left to cherish her memory include her 4 children, Stephen J. Cornell (Bonnie) of Wynantskill, Kathryn J. Halliday (Don) of Corinth, Laurence J. Cornell (Kimberly) of Queensbury and Elisa J. Moffitt (Larry) of Queensbury; brothers, Franklin Osborne (Georgia) of Hartford, John C. Osborne (Yvonne) of Cleremont, Florida; 5 grandsons, Ryan Halliday (JoAnne), Patrick Cornell, Grant Cornell, Andrew Cornell (Laura) & Anthony Cornell; 3 granddaughters, Erin Strattman (Robert) Ashlyn Bornheim (John), Katelyn Broe (Timothy); 11 great grandchildren, Carmella, Brooklyn, Brianna, Collin & Molly Cornell, Isaiah & Reiley Halliday, Harvey & Holly Strattman, Hunter & Malia Broe; special sister-in-law Mary Anne Osborne; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and family may call from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday December 6, 2016 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home 82 Broadway Fort Edward, NY 12828.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the Hartford Baptist Church 56 Hartford Main St, Hartford, NY 12838 with Pastor Dave Asel officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00am on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Morningside Cemetery, Hartford.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fort Hudson Nursing Home especially Steve, Jeannie, Dakota & Bill for their loving care of Marian. Also the family would like to thank Kelly Smith from HCR.
