Obituary for Charles R. Harrington

HARTFORD
Charles R. Harrington, 82, passed quietly on April 19, 2018.
Born, June 15, 1935 in East Hartford, New York, he was the son of the late Paul and Edna (Morse) Harrington.
Chuck graduated from Hartford High School in 1952 and completed the apprentice tool making program with the General Electric Co in Pittsfield, MA, in 1954. “Chas”, named after his favorite comic book character, transferred to General Electric Co in Hudson Falls, NY where he worked as a tool and die maker at the Hudson Falls and Fort Edward plants until he retired in 2000.
On April 15, 1956, Charles married Audrey Linindoll at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls.
Charles served on the Hartford Central School Board from 1970 to 1976 and taught Adult Education Machine Shop at BOCES for 10 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Granville, NY and served as an usher. He was a Boy Scout Leader for 6 years, co-started Hartford Little League Baseball, and contributed to several other youth programs in the region.
Charles also joined the Hartford Senior Citizens in 2000 and was always willing to help out and doing service and volunteer activities with the group including serving meals with meals on wheels and visiting seniors.
Charles enjoyed travelling with Audrey. Especially, visiting their children and their families, in Texas, Washington State, Arizona, and Georgia. His hobbies included making hand thrown clay pottery, flower gardening, lawncare, and woodworking amongst other outside activities.
In addition to his parents, Charles is predeceased by his brother, George.
Survivors include Audrey, his wife of 62 years, his children; Kathy Sullivan (Paul), David Harrington (Cathy), Timothy Harrington, and Michael Harrington (Kristan), grandchildren; Mary Ellen, Doug, Chris, Taylor, Chase, Garrett, Brent, Paul, Henry, and Audrey Lynn, 6 great-grandchildren, as well as his brother Donald (Carol), and their families, and sister-in-law Barbara, and her family.
At Charles’ request there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main Street, Argyle, NY 12809.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Slate Valley for the love and care they gave Charles and we cannot forget his Charlies Angels who watched over him when Audrey wasn’t there.
