Albert J. Arcuri, 89, beloved husband, father, and WWII Veteran, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 21, 2015.

Born in Fort Edward on March 23, 1926, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna (Zeto) Arcuri.

On July 13, 1952 Albert married the love of his life, Sophie Susko at St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward.

Following his graduation from Fort Edward High School in 1944, he entered the Armed Services in 1945. After his training in tank repair and maintenance at Ft. Knox, he served as Sargent in the 3190 Engineering Corp. where he was in charge of water distillation in Iwo Jima, until his discharge in 1946. He was proud to be a WWII Veteran serving in the US Army.

Albert started his employment at G.E. in 1947 and retired as a plant engineer with almost 40 years of service.

Albert was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He was an Usher and active member of St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward. He was also a proud member of the NRA since age 16.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood crafting and numerous other hobbies like, clock making and carpentry projects. Albert was a man of many trades and abilities, and always found time to help his friends, family, and neighbors. He loved his family, and was a kind and thoughtful person, who was proud that he was able to give all of his children a college education,

Besides his parents, Albert is predeceased by his brothers, Anthony, Carl, John, Joseph, Samuel, Dominic, and Francis; his sisters Marion, Rose Ann and Elizabeth.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Sophie (Susko) Arcuri of Fort Edward; his daughters Barbara Davis and her husband Jim of Saratoga Springs, Janet Suprise and her partner William Dziedzinski of Ware, MA, Karen Sabo and her husband Christopher of Queensbury; his sister Marguerite Eddy; his brother Edward Arcuri; his grandchildren, Grace Davis, Evan Davis, Julie Burton, Emily Suprise, Madeline Sabo, Alex Sabo and Ben Sabo; his great grandchildren, Aja Suprise, Aniya Suprise, Enrique Burton, Christopher Suprise, as well as several nieces and nephews.

At Albert’s request there will be no calling hours. A service will be conducted at 11a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Church 164 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828 with Rev. Robert Powhida.
