Obituary for Anna Lucille Morency (Taylor)

Anna Lucille Morency (Taylor)
Fort Edward

With great sadness, the family of Anna L. (Taylor) Morency, 95, announces the passing of their dear mother on Thursday, December 27, 2012.

Born in Glens Falls on September 3, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Ross and Clara (Towne) Taylor.

Anna graduated from Hudson Falls High School class of 1935. During WWII, she worked as a cryptologist for the military. In 1942, Anna married Francis “Honey” Morency in West Palm Beach, Fl. They spent 32 years together, before his passing in 1974. After the war, she worked for Marinett (Scott) Paper in Fort Edward. For many years, Anna and Honey owned and operated Mac’s Bar. She was a longtime employee of the Joy Store, where she worked at the customer service counter. Anna also worked as a teacher’s aide for the Moreau Elementary School, loved by the children and staff, until she retired at the age of 86.

Anna’s favorite pastime was playing bingo. She especially liked her Sunday bingo trips to Vermont with her friends. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, eating at the Olde Bryan Inn, watching Wheel of Fortune, tennis and golf on TV. In her younger years she was an avid bowler and loved to golf. One of her proudest moments was a hole in one at the Wedgewood.

Besides her parents and husband, Anna is predeceased by her sister Marjorie Gosline, twin grandsons Jordan and Jeremy Morency, and a longtime friend Lloyd Poucher.

Left to cherish her memories are her children: Michael Morency and wife Diane of South Glens Falls, Timothy Morency and wife Kathleen of Fort Edward, and Jeffrey Morency and wife Faith of Queensbury. Grandchildren: Dan Morency and wife Jamie, Jason Morency, Jessica Morency and partner Steve Carlesimo, Ashley (Morency) Dewey and husband Michael, Matthew Morency and wife Tina, Patrick Morency, Patty Bills and husband Michael, and Jamie Dudley. Ten great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to those involved in her care. The family will always remember your kindness in our time of need. We would like to thank Tina, Casey, Lisa, Heidi, Kathy, Karen and the staff at Fort Hudson Nursing Home.

Friends may call from 11am-12pm on Friday, January 4, 2013 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home 82 Broadway Fort Edward, NY 12828. To view Anna’s Book of Memories and post online condolences, please visit www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.
