Obituary for Anne Bowe-Tomcykowski (Bowe)

Anne Bowe-Tomcykowski (Bowe)
Highlands Ranch, Colorado

Anne Bowe-Tomcykowski, 70, died December 23, 2012, surrounded by family in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

Born in Fort Edward on May 28, 1942, she was the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Lennon) Bowe. Anne’s life was characterized by her intelligence, her independence, her faith, and her dedication to family.

Anne was a lifelong learner, always looking for a new challenge. Over the years, she became a pilot, earned a certificate in coaching soccer, kept up with the latest technology, and studied faith and religion with her husband and friends. She was avidly interested in news and politics. Every morning she could be found perusing the daily paper and working the crossword until she was running late for work. Lunch was usually eaten over a copy of Newsweek. Puzzles were her favorite pastime.

Anne loved to see new places. As a young woman, she toured Europe with her sister, Kathleen. Throughout her life, she lived in Washington, D.C., Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, New York and Colorado, and visited friends and relations anywhere and everywhere, at every opportunity. Her favorite places were the seashore and anywhere her kids happened to be.

Anne also had a compulsion to serve. She never missed a blood drive, loved delivering Meals on Wheels, served in countless volunteer roles with her kids’ schools and activities, was highly involved in parish ministries, and donated to many charitable organizations.

Whatever she might have done with her many interests and talents, Anne always chose her family above all. She was a mother who loved, supported, and challenged her children; a wife who shared life in partnership with her husband; and a daughter who tried hard to maintain family ties across distance. Her warmth, humor, and thoughtfulness are deeply missed.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Robert J. Bowe Jr., and a sister Kathleen (Bowe) Moutz.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Tomcykowski; her children, Brian Crookham (Michelle) of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Kirk Crookham (Jennifer) of Broomfield, Colo., and DeeAnne Crookham (Jason) of Jacksonville, Fla., her step-daughter Cassandra Tomcykowski of Aurora Colo.; her sister, Margaret “Peggy” Currie of Fort Edward; her sister-in-law, Coral Bowe of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; her seven grandchildren: Michael Tomcykowski of Aurora, Colo., Connor, Beth, and Sean Crookham of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Kenna and Jillian Crookham of Broomfield, Colo., and Aaron Ramsey of Jacksonville, Fla.; and her five nieces and their families.

A funeral mass was celebrated on December 26, 2012 at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Highlands Ranch, Colo.

The Rite of Committal will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fort Edward, NY.
