Obituary for Barbara R. MacLaren

Barbara R. MacLaren, 82, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her family.

Born on August 29, 1939, in Bryn Mawr, PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl Price and Barbara Marie (Castner) Richards.

Barbara graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Philadelphia, PA and Rosemont College in Rosemont, PA.

On June 10, 1961, Barbara married her best friend and the love of her life, Ian MacLaren at St. Matthias Catholic Church in Bala Cynwyd, PA.

Barbara was a very faithful person and a prayer warrior. She enjoyed exploring, going to historical sites, hanging out with the horses, and watching birds. Barbara was the ultimate encourager who wouldn’t ever let anyone get down on themselves. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren teaching them everything there was to know about life, faith, and commitment. Barbara has touched and impacted more lives than even she knew, and will be missed by everyone she has met over the years.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her brother, E. Peter Richards and her sister, Diana Woodcock.

Left to cherish her memory include her husband if 61 years, Ian H. MacLaren; her children, Barbara M. Wood and her husband, Bruce, Ian H. MacLaren Jr. and his wife, Karen, Deborah M. Strickler and her husband, Jon, Carolyn M. Staub, Michele L. Bromley and her husband, Thomas; her grandchildren, Jessica Miller and her husband, Jeff, Stephen Edwards, Lauren Wood, Kelsey MacLaren, Katie MacLaren, Joseph Robinson, Sarah Robinson, Nathan Staub, Abigail Staub, Caleb Bromley and Joshua Bromley; her sister, Cordelia Kelly; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30am on Friday, July 29, 2022, at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.

A Memorial Service will be conducted following the calling hour at 10:30am at the funeral home.

A Graveside Service s will be conducted following the memorial service at 12pm at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.

Following the Graveside service, there will be a reception at the Argyle Firehouse. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in Barabara’s memory to the J. A. Barkley Hose Co., Argyle NY.
