Obituary for Barbara Jane Ruhle

Saratoga Springs

Barbara J. Ruhle, 58, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Washington Center in Argyle, NY, following an extended illness.

Born on April 13, 1960 in Saratoga Springs, she is the daughter of the late Floyd (Jake) and Joyce (Powers) Ruhle.

After graduating from Schuylerville High School in 1980, Barbara continued her education at Adirondack Community College, earning as Associate’s Degree. Shortly after graduating, she began her career with Price Chopper, working at the front desk at the old Railroad Street store in Saratoga and later transferring to the Wilton Store. She was a faithful employee at Price Chopper/Market 32 for over 30 years, before retiring earlier this year.

Barbara was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church located in Saratoga Springs.

As a child, Barbara enjoyed helping her father on the family farm alongside her cousins. She also enjoyed doing crafts, reading mystery novels, and watching movies and television, especially the SyFy Channel. Barbara also enjoyed taking family vacations and spending quality time with her nieces and nephew.

Barbara was a courageous woman, tackling her diagnosis with muscular dystrophy head on. Family and friends recall her strength and will-do attitude towards her life.

Left to cherish her memory include her two sisters, Rissa Bapp and her husband Tom, Stacey Lamodi and her husband Olu (Vern); her nieces Stephanie Shean, Sarah and Sofie Lamodi; her nephew Seth Thomas; her great-niece Naomi Chavez; her best friend since elementary school Sue; as well as her aunts, uncles, and many cousins.

Friends and family may call from 10 am to 12 noon on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home located at 82 Broadway in Fort Edward, NY. A graveside service will follow the calling hours at the Gansevoort Cemetery located on Route 50 in Gansevoort.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Washington Center for their care and compassion during Barbara’s stay.

The family suggest that memorial donations in Barbara’s name be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 1 Marcus Blvd #203, Albany, NY 12205.
