Obituary for Betty A. Emmons

SOUTH GLENS FALLS

Betty A. Emmons, 78, passed away on March 31, 2013 at the Westmount Health Facility.

Born February 20, 1935 in Hartford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Alma Locker.

Betty graduated from Phillip Schuyler High School in Albany, NY.

On April 10, 1955, Betty married Reginald O. Emmons in Albany, NY.

Betty worked for 43 years at Glens Falls Hospital in bed control.

Betty loved to read and to travel, particularly to Hawaii and Alaska. She was an avid bowler, and loved to do needlepoint and counted cross stitch. Most of all, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her mother, Betty is predeceased by her husband, Reginald O. Emmons, Jr., and an infant son, Robert Owen Emmons.

Left to cherish her memory are Betty’s son James A. Emmons and his wife Karen, of South Glens Falls, her daughter Jody Emmons-Hyatt, of Orange City, FL, and Betty’s son John A. Emmons of South Glens Falls. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Justin Coons of Queensbury, Meghan Jones of Orange City, FL, and Robert Gilman of Malden, MA, as well as two great-grandchildren, Shannon and Olive Gilman of Malden, MA.

Friends may call from 4-6pm on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St., South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10am, Thursday, April 4, 2013 with Regina Haag of the Adirondack Friends Meeting officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Glens Falls Cemetery on Bay Street, Glens Falls, NY.

Memorial Donations can be made in Betty’s name to the American Diabetes Association, 2 Pine West Plaza, Suite 204, Albany, NY 12205.
