Obituary for Brien Patrick Kolar

Brien Patrick Kolar
HUDSON FALLS

Brien P. Kolar, 61, passed away suddenly on Friday morning, July 4, 2014.

Born March 12, 1953 in Boca Raton, FL, he was the son of the late Robert J. and Violet (Bennett) Kolar. He later moved to Brooklyn, NY and finally to Bolton Landing, NY.

On September 19, 1976, Brien married the love of his life, JoAnn Moss, in South Glens Falls, NY.

Brien was employed for many years as a corrections officer at the Great Meadow Correctional Facility in Comstock, NY.

Brien had a deep love of the outdoors and spent much of his leisure time hunting, fishing, hiking, and metal detecting. One of his greatest pleasures was sharing his passion with his sons and his friends, and he lived for the moments that he could spend hunting and fishing with them. He was always extremely devoted to his friends. Brien had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. He will always be remembered for leaving those he met with a smile on their face and a sense of feeling better about themselves for having known him.

Brien is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, JoAnn Kolar of Hudson Falls, his sons; Kyle Kolar and his fiancée Amber Alden of Hudson Falls, and Shea Kolar and his finaceé Kelsey Tupper of Buffalo, his siblings; Robert Kolar, Burt Kolar, and Susan Rutter, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs, Violet and Molly.

Friends may call from 3-6pm on Sunday July 6, 2014 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828. To leave online condolences or to view Brien’s Book of Memories, please visit www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.

A remembrance of Brien’s life will be celebrated at 6pm following calling hours.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
