Clarence Richard “Butch” Anderson, 67, passed away at home on March 13, 2013 from complications of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), with his loving wife and son by his side.

Born on January 3, 1946, Butch was the son of the late Arthur Anderson and Clara (Morgan) Anderson.

Butch was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966-1968, where he attained the rank of Lance Corporal. He received his Sharpshooter Rifle Badge as well as a National Defense Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal for his brave service in the Vietnam War.

On December 2, 1972, Butch married the love of his life, Cathy Hay at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls.

Butch was employed by Finch Pruyn for 33 years as a paper machine tender until his retirement in 2001. He also patrolled the forest at Smith Farm where he enjoyed all the wildlife and being surrounded by nature.

Butch will always be remembered for his love of his family, especially his son Kevin who was the greatest joy of his life. He especially loved attending Kevin’s piano recitals at college. Butch loved G.T.O.s, Corvettes, and motorcycles, and even traveled to Texas on his bike to visit his sister. He also traveled with his family to Florida, Cape Cod, Maine and Canada. Butch also loved boating on area lakes such as Glen Lake, Saratoga Lake, and Lake George. Butch was a friend to all animals and routinely fostered and sheltered stray cats in his backyard as well as his 4 house cats.

In addition to his parents, Butch is predeceased by his father-in-law Jack Hay, his sister-in-law Joyce Anderson, his uncles; Ralph and Lester Morgan, his aunts; Hilma and Mabel Anderson, his great niece Amanda Rabine, and a close family friend Marge O’Keefe

Left to cherish Butch’s memory are his loving wife Cathy, his son, Kevin Anderson, his mother-in-law Olean Hay of South Glens Falls, his sister Cora Anderson and her husband Roger of Texas, his brother Robert Anderson and his companion Bonnie Plude of Hudson Falls, his brother Ralph Anderson and his wife Georgia of Hudson Falls, his brother-in-law Jerry Hay and his wife Lynn of South Glens Falls, his brother-in-law Harold Hay and his companion Maria Scarpellino of Glens Falls, his aunt Hilda Simonetta of Fort Edward, as well as severel nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At Butch’s request, there will be no formal calling hours. The family invites you to join them on Monday, March 18, 2013 from 10-11am at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803, with a Memorial Service directly following at 11am, with Rev. Robert McCrory of the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will follow at 12:30pm at the Gerald B.H. Soloman Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
