Obituary for David Allen Gorrie

SOUTH GLENS FALLS

David A. Gorrie, 57, joined his son “sunshine” David Joseph (DJ) on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 after many months of battling grief, depression, and alcoholism.

Born March 11, 1965 in Glens Falls, NY, he was the son of the late William and Harriet (Harrington) Gorrie.

Dave will always be remembered as the guy with a song in his heart, beer in his hand, and bonfires you could see for miles. The smile that he always wore was his suit of armor for hiding the pain he felt in his heart. The truth is, we all face hardships of some kind, and you never know the struggles a person is going through that they might hide behind a smile.

In addition to his parents and his beloved son, David is predeceased by his brother Billy, and his sister Theresa.

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings; Mary Weseman (Bill), Amber Imitochey (Brian), Peter Gorrie (Mary), Debbie Gorrie (Mike), Annie Gorrie (Al), DJ’s mother Anne McKinney, his longtime companion Carolyn Curley, his special friend Marci Baker, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Friends may call from 1-3pm on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803. To honor Dave and his great love of sports and rivalries, it is suggested to wear your favorite team colors.

A Memorial service will follow the calling hours at 3pm with Rev. Nancy Goff officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1pm on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at St. Joseph’s cemetery in Fort Edward.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the South High Marathon Dance, 42 Merritt Rd, South Glens Falls, NY 12803, or to a charity of your choice.
