David J. Ross III
FORT EDWARD

David J. Ross III, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief illness.

Born March 21, 1967 in Glens Falls, NY, David was the son of David and Nancy Lee (Bezio) Ross, Jr.

David graduated from Fort Edward High School where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. Along with sports, he also served as an altar boy for St. Joseph’s Church for many years.

David’s love of music began in high school. As a band member, David played trumpet. His abilities led to him being selected for the All County Band and numerous requests were made to him to play Taps for all branches of the military services. He was a member of the Fort Edward Vagabonds Corps. He was also a member to the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #81of Glens Falls.

Upon graduation, David excelled at playing bass guitar as a lefty. He played with bands including Gypsy Leather, Last Child which warmed up Skid Row, R.G.B.III, Cör, and most recently as a member of Feedback. He also performed acoustically in several area venues including The Horicon on Lake George.

David was employed as a stonecutter for Granite and Marble Associates, where he was involved with the Niagara Falls Paving Project, and the Princeton University Recognition Monument. He was proud to know that his work will be appreciated for hundreds of years to come.

His other interests included his love of family, camping, fly fishing, boating and bowling in the Twin County B League at Broadway Lanes in Fort Edward. Most of all, he loved riding his Harley Davidson. He will always be remembered for his supportive ways, acts of kindness to anyone in need, and his wonderful outlook and sense of humor.

David was predeceased by his daughter, Amber Lee Ross, his maternal grandparents, Harry and Katherine Bezio, and his paternal grandparents, David and Philemina (Fannie) Ross.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, David and Nancy Lee Ross of Fort Edward, his brother, Mark P. Ross, Sr., of Comstock, his sister Nanette Hammond and her husband Michael of Queensbury, his nephews Mark P. Ross Jr., and Mitchell Hammond, and his nieces, Rachel and Gabrielle Hammond, his aunt Judith A. Ross of Queensbury, numerous cousins, as well as many dear friends.
