David C. Viele, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Fort Hudson Nursing home in the presence of his loving wife Angela and other loving family.

Born in Hudson Falls on May 13, 1922, he was the son of the late Edward and Vivian (Bombard) Viele Sr.

David attended Fort Edward High School and was employed for many years by Scott Paper Company retiring in 1979. He was one of the founding members and past board member of the Fort Hudson Nursing Home and charter and lifelong member of the Fort Edward Rescue Squad. During the 50th Anniversary of the Squad, he was given the honor of being a co-grand marshal at the Heritage Days Parade that year. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward where he served as an usher, altar server and Eucharistic Minister. He also served as Eucharistic Minister at Glens Falls Hospital for over 20 years. He was a former board member of the Sandy Hill & Fort Edward-Union Cemetery Association and had worked at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home and other area funeral homes for many years.

Besides his parents, David is predeceased by his first wife, Olive Falkenbury Viele, and a brother, Edward Viele as well as his brothers in law, Joseph, Sebastian and Robert Cicero and sisters in law, Dominica Turco and her husband John and Mary Montello Curtis and her husband Bernard.

On November 14, 1998, David married Angela Cicero at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 15 years, Angela Cicero-Viele, his daughter, Debbie Stedman and husband Steve of Queensbury, his grandchildren, Seth and Caitlin Stedman of Queensbury, sisters-in-law, Arlene Wood, Lillian Viele, Molly, Teresa and Carol Cicero, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Friday, October 25, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Church, 164 Broadway Fort Edward, NY 12828 with Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor, officiating.

Rite of Committal will follow at Union Cemetery, Fort Edward.

Donations in David’s memory may be made to St. Joseph Church, 164 Broadway, Fort Edward, Fort Edward Rescue Squad, PO Box 226, Fort Edward or to the Fort Hudson Nursing Home, 319 Broadway, Fort Edward.
