Obituary for Davine E. Hermens (Copeland)

QUEENSBURY

Davine E. (Copeland) Hermens, 84, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the Saratoga Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She selflessly donated her body to science to the Albany Medical Center Anatomical Gift Program.

Born June 14, 1934 in North Argyle, NY, she was the daughter of the late David Edward and Sarah Lillis (Clark) Copeland.

Davine worked as the secretary at Dr. Seaman’s optometry office in Queensbury for over 35 years. Upon her retirement, she continued working as a teaching assistant in several local schools and at BOCES.

Davine had a genuine love of people. She was extremely social and could often be found talking on the phone with her friends. She loved to shop, and enjoyed taking “girls trips” with her family to places such as Mexico, Niagara Falls, Bermuda, and Ireland. She was very family-oriented and loved spending time with all of her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to her parents, Davine is predeceased by her sisters, Norma Combs and Roseann Scott, her grandchildren, Jennifer and Joshua Hadden, and her son-in-law Bob Mackey.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Cheri Mackey and Cindi Secor (Steve Lewis), her grandchildren; Jacob Hadden (Michelle), Jordan Hadden, Jared Hadden (Joscelyn), Jillian Hadden (Ricky Borden), Jessica Hadden (Adam Steenrod), Sarah Secor-Jones (Charles), Heather Secor, and Matthew Secor (Jean), her great-grandchildren; Taylor, Cameron, Makena, Annaliese, Killian, Cole, Charlee, Gunner, Kenzie, Ian, and Weston, her sister Gertrude Paller, several nieces and nephews, as well as her “daughter” Cindi Kilmartin who she thought of as family.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 12pm on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the Pine Knolls Alliance Church, 614 Gansevoort Rd, South Glens Falls, NY, with a Celebration of Davine’s life following the services.

Arrangements are in the care of the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St., South Glens Falls, NY 12803. To leave online condolences please visit www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.
