Mr. Dean Korb, 76, died unexpectedly Friday, January 22, 2016 at Duke Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
Mr. Korb was born in Tunkhannock, Pa. on August 10, 1939 to the Rev Nevin and Mrs. Ruth Korb
Mr. Korb was preceded in death by his parents and youngest daughter Jessica Eve Korb.
He is survived by his wife Edith (Pierson) and their four sons and one daughter. David & wife Sherri of Ithaca, New York; Thomas of Queensbury, New York; James and wife Jennifer of South Dayton, New York; daughter Jennifer and husband Tim of Durham, North Carolina; son Mark and wife Tammi of Carrolton, Texas. Dean is survived by his grandchildren: Justin Dye, Benjamin Dye, David Korb, Jr., William Korb, Maren Korb, Aislinn Korb, Athena Korb, and Luke Benoit.
Dean’s sisters and brothers also survive him. Esther Gardner of Brunswick, GA; Naomi Reynolds of Argyle, NY; Rev Gordon Korb and wife Kay of Mobile, AL; Lowell Korb and wife Inez of Brunswick, GA. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Dean was retired from NIBCO (Northern Indiana Brass Co.) of New York after 42 years. Dean served his Lord and Savior faithfully as a choir member, soloist on The Glad Tidings Hour radio program, and a long-time member of The First Baptist Church of South Glens Falls. Dean was also an integral part of the well-known “Korb’s Corn” endeavor started by his father. He continued to enjoy gardening for many years. He was a dedicated Dodgers fan as well as a devoted weather watcher.
Dean’s family rejoices knowing he is now happy, safe and well in the presence of His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The family will receive friends on Sat, May 7th from 10 am to 11 am at the First Baptist Church at 1721 Saratoga Rd. South Glens Falls.
Funeral services will be held on Sat., May 7th at 11:30 am at The First Baptist Church of South Glens Falls, New York with the Rev. Francis Galerie, Pastor.
Burial will be following the service at Southside Cemetery in Moreau.
The family was assisted by the Ellis D. Jones & Sons funeral home of Durham, North Carolina and the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home of South Glens Falls, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to one of the following charities: First Baptist Church Choir Robe Fund at First Baptist Church of So. Glens Falls, 1721 Saratoga Rd. So. Glens Falls or donations can be given in memory of Dean Korb to the Dike Cancer Institute to support research for Hematologic Malignancies and Cellular Therapies.
