Deniece Wicks passed away at her home on Fri, June 6, 2014 with her husband at her side.

Deniece was the daughter of the late Clarence and Luella (Winslow) White. She was married in the Corinth Baptist Church on May 12, 1956 to the love of her life, Walter David Wicks.

She graduated from the Hadley-Luzerne Central School in 1951, and the Samaritian Hospital Nursing Schooling in 1954 as a Registered Nurse. Her nursing career included service at the Glens Falls Hospital and duties as a private duty nurse.

She was a member of the Knowlhurst Baptist Church in Stony Creek and the South Glens Falls Baptist Church.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who adored her immediate and extended family. When she wasn’t working or raising her family, Deniece enjoyed sewing, ceramics, traveling, and being members of the book club and Moreau Senior Citizens.

In addition to her parents, Deniece was predeceased by a daughter, Joy Wicks; a son, Dana Wicks; and two brothers, Daryl and Donald White.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Walter Wicks; her son, David Wicks, and his wife, Cindy, of Ooltewah, TN; her son, Dale Wicks, of Minneapolis, MN; her grandchildren: Chris, Sean, Megan, Andrew, and Caitlin; her daughter-in-law, Terry Wicks-Herwerth and her husband Jon; as well as many other relatives.

A funeral service will follow calling hours at the funeral home with her son, David Wicks, and the Rev. Stephen McLean, pastor of the Argyle Presbyterian Church, co-officiating.

The family would like to give a special thanks to: Diana Eggleston, her niece; her close friends, Tony and Dawn Johnson, and Alan and Kat Casey, for all their concern, care and compassion given to Deniece and husband Walter at this great time of need, as well as the over the many years of friendships shared.

Donations in Deniece’s name may be made to the Renal Dialysis Unit in care of the Glens Falls Hospital, 3 Broad St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
