Fort Edward

Dominick A. Mandolare, 90, a life-time resident of Fort Edward, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.

He was born on April 19, 1922 the son of the late Phillipo and Lucia (Ricci) Mandolare.

Dominick grew up in Fort Edward with his 7 brothers and sisters. He deepened his love of the outdoors while serving as a young man in the Civilian Conservation Corp. where he worked on building many of the campsites and trails still enjoyed in the Adirondacks today. He was an Army Sergeant who served during WWII. Upon returning from service he married his wife of 66 years, Margaret (Almy) Mandolare. Dominick was a maintenance supervisor at Scott Paper Company and worked in the paper industry for over 35 years.

Dominick a devoted Yankees fan could often be found in a lively debate centered around a game with his brothers or his grandchildren. Dominick could talk endlessly of his love and pride for his grandchildren and family.

Besides his parents, Dominick is predeceased by sisters, Elizabeth Crawford, Rose Parras, Natalie “Dolly” and Mary Mandolare, , and a brother, Bruno Mandolare.

Survivors include his wife Margaret Mandolare, daughter Rose Marie Durkee of Argyle, N.Y., son Philip Louis Mandolare and his wife Rebecca of Clarendon, VT.; five beloved grandchildren, David and Timothy Durkee, Stephen Mandolare and his wife Jennifer of Chelmsford, MA, Sarah Mandolare of Wilmington, N.C. and Shawn Mandolare of Clarendon, VT.; his brothers John Mandolare, and Anthony Mandolare and his wife, Beverly; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral will be conducted at 1pm on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor of St. Joseph’s Church, officiating.
