Doris I. (Saunders) Goss, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 3, 2014 at her home with her family by her side.

Born September 19, 1927 in Nashua, NH, Doris was the daughter of the late Charles and Sally (Johnson) Saunders.

Doris was employed for many years at General Electric in Fort Edward until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of the Hudson Falls Methodist Church, and belonged to Theta Rho and also the Rebekahs/IOOF.

On November 24, 1951, Doris married the love of her life, and husband of 62 years, Laurence “Larry” Goss at the Nashua Methodist Church in Nashua, NH.

Doris loved to cook and bring her family and friends together for special meals. She loved having company over and was famous for her fish cakes and roast beef dinners. There were always flowers on her front porch to welcome her guests in the summer. She will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her brothers; John Saunders and Roy Saunders, and her sisters; Mary Florczuk, Helen Johnson, and Elsie Dutton, and her granddaughter, Amy Taft.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Laurence Goss of Glens Falls, her son Philip L. Goss and his wife Alice of Rutland, VT, her daughter Sally Taft and her husband David of Hudson Falls, her son David J. Goss and his wife Colleen of Glens Falls, her granddaughters; Sarah Kuriplach and her husband Kamil of South Glens Falls, Devin Applebee and her husband James of White River Junction, VT, and Megan Sgroi and her husband Ryan of Albany, her grandson Ryan Goss of Rutland, VT, and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2-4 pm on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 4 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Derek Hansen of the Hudson Falls Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations in Doris’s name can be made to the Open Door Soup Kitchen, 47 Lawrence Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Doris’s caregivers; Sheila, Kim, Dana, Carie, and Patti Auer for their kindness and compassion which allowed Doris to remain in her home while she was ill, and to Dr. Suzanne Blood for her excellent care of Doris over the years.
