Obituary for Dorothy Marie Harrington (Gillis)
GREENWICH
Dorothy M. (Gillis) Harrington, 77, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Saratoga Hospital.
Born October 17, 1941 in Middle Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Maybelle (Welden) Gillis.
Dorothy married Lewis Harrington Jr. On October 3, 1959, and together they raised their family until his passing in 2001.
She worked for many years as a seamstress in the local shirt factories. Dorothy enjoyed going to Bingo, shopping, garage-saling, and collecting knick-knacks, especially moose, owls, and cows. Most of all, she enjoyed visiting and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Dorothy is predeceased by her brothers, Harold and Robert Gillis, and her sisters, Pauline Wood and Norma McReynolds.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Geraldine Russell (Leo) of Argyle, Suzanne Riley (Jim) of Jacksonville, FL, and Ronald Harrington (Lorrie Hansen) of Middle Falls, her grandchildren; James Riley(Arlene) and Ashlee Riley of Jacksonville, FL, and Robert Tucker of Middle Falls, her brothers; Edward Gillis (Mary) of Greenwich, William Gillis (Lisa), of Schuylerville, Donald Gillis of Middle Falls, and many nieces and nephews.
At Dorothy’s request there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main Street, Argyle, NY 12809.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1pm on Friday, April 19, 2019 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, with Rev. Deb Peacock of the Argyle United Methodist Church officiating.
Memorial donations in Dorothy’s name can be made to the Easton Greenwich Rescue Squad, 441 NY-29, Greenwich, NY 12834, or to the Middle Falls Fire Department, 1034 State Route 29, Greenwich, Middle Falls, NY 12848.
