Queensbury

Elsie L. Phillips, 92, formerly of Argyle passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at The Orchard Nursing & Rehab Center.

Born in Chicago, IL on January 16, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Ida (Zeitler) Fitzner.

On September 9, 1946, she married the love of her life Norman H. Phillips in Chicago, IL. The spent nearly 50 years together before his passing in 1996.

For a short time, Elsie worked at the Troy Shirt Factory before going to work at Sherwood Medical in Argyle, where she worked for over 20 years before she retired.

She recently lived at The Cedars in Queensbury where she made many wonderful friends before moving to The Orchard Nursing & Rehab Center where she was involved with many of the activities.

Elsie was a very talented seamstress and made many wonderful projects that she was very proud of.

Along with her parents and husband, Elsie is predeceased by one great grandchild.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter Nancy J. Thomas (George) of Poland, IN, son, John W. Phillips (Sharon) of Hartford, son, James W. Phillips (Dawn) of Argyle, grandchildren, Ronnie Thomas, George III Thomas, Jerry Thomas, Norman Thomas (Heather), Wendy Bush (Michael), Tammy Phair (Peter), Joseph Rojcewicz (Laura), 15 great grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, siblings, Harry Fitzner, Lorraine Austin, and Clara Fitzner, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Elsie’s request, there will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be conducted at a time to be announced later in the spring.
