Ernest Theodore Mueller, 80, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Barnwell Nursing home in Valatie.
Born on April 15, 1941, in Agawam, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late William and Lieschen (Peters) Mueller.
In 1958, Ernie enlisted into the United States Marines and served until 1962. While in the Marines he was a Parachute Rigger.
On September 7, 1984, Ernest married Sandra Hazeltine in Perkinsville, VT.
For many years, Ernie worked for Bay State Gas Company in Springfield, MA as the Plant Manager until his retirement.
In 1975, Ernie graduated from private pilot program at Robert’s Aviation Flight Training School. On January 3, 1975, he completed his first solo flight to Palmer Airport. He also received his Citizens Radio Station License in 1976.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing and watching golf. Ernie was the past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge #61 in Springfield, MA and a member of Elks Lodge #81 in Queensbury.
In addition to his parents, Ernie was predeceased by his son, Eric Mueller; his sisters, Alice Nowill and Marion Welsh; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Blanchard.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 36 years, Sandy; his children, Joel Mueller and Jeffery Mueller; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his stepchildren, Kevin Austin, Jody Currier and Wade Austin; his siblings, William Mueller and his wife, Marie, Betty Blanchard, Shirley Candage and her husband, Byron; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At Ernie’s request there will be no calling hours.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at 10am on Friday, May 21, 2021, at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY with full military honors.
Memorial donations in Ernie’s memory can be made to any VA charity of one’s choice.
