Obituary for Ernest George Stanley

Ernest George Stanley
Ernest G. Stanley, 74, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014 at his home.

Born April 15, 1940 in Glens Falls, NY, he was lovingly raised by the Lester family.

Ernie proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

Upon returning from the service, he married Dorothy Beaupre in St. Alphonsus Church in Glens Falls on July 8, 1962.

Ernie was employed by Bromley Imports for many years. This inspired him to open his own family auto parts business, E &A Imports in Fort Edward, NY, which he operated for 22 years. He was also a past President of the Fort Edward Chamber of Commerce, where he tirelessly worked to benefit the town and organized many fundraisers to improve the area.

Ernie will be remembered for always having time for everyone he met, and for always lending a helping hand. He loved his meticulous yard and took great pride in beautifying the world around him. Most of all, Ernie loved spending time with his family.

Left to cherish Ernie’s memory are his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy Stanley, his children; Lisa Luedders and her husband Robert, and Ernest G. Stanley Jr. and his wife Mary, his grandchildren; Paul Etu, Bobby Luedders, Katie Luedders, and Rose Stanley, his great-grandchildren; Cameron Etu and Hannah Etu, and his sister, Marjorie McCullough.

Friends may call from 5-7pm on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828. To leave online condolences or to view Ernie’s Book of Memories, please visit www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.
