Obituary for Frances Mae "Fran" O'Connell

SOUTH GLENS FALLS
Frances “Fran” O’Connell, passed away peacefully at the Fort Hudson Nursing Center on July 27, 2014.

She was one of ten children born to the late George R. and Catherine (Allen) Upton. She was born in Beekmantown in Clinton County, NY.

Fran retired from U.S. Catheter after many years of dedicated employment.

She loved to eat-out, travel throughout the northeast with her husband, Fran, and enjoyed time caring for and maintaining their home in South Glens Falls.

Following the loss of her husband, Frances enjoyed many trips with the Moreau Senior Citizens, sharing those occasions with her good friend and traveling companion, Jane Moulton.

Fran was predeceased by her loving husband of 46 years, Francis O’Connell.

She is survived by her son, David O’Connell, and his wife, Jeannine, of Queensbury; her grandson, Coley O’Connell, and his wife, Lisa, of Winchester, VA; her sister, Catherine Corlew, a resident of Fort Hudson Nursing Center; several nieces and nephews; as well as her special niece, Roberta Port, of Goffstown, NH, who corresponded and visited Fran throughout her lifetime, and was especially caring during Fran’s later years.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at the Southside Cemetery in South Glens Falls, with the Rev. Jeffrey Stratton, pastor of the South Glens Falls United Methodist Church, officiating. Online condolences may be posted at www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to The Landing Assisted Living Center in Queensbury for their excellent care and in providing a family atmosphere.

Special thanks to the Argyle wing nursing staff and caregivers of the Fort Hudson Nursing Center for their quality care and compassion. Also to Community Hospice of Saratoga for their assistance in the final months of mom’s life journey.

Finally, a big thank you to the SGF United Methodist Church for their outreach program, comforting support, visits, and offers of assistance.
