Obituary for Frank A. Gatto

ARGYLE, NY

Frank Gatto, 80, of County Rte. 45 passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on July 29, 1932 in Bedford Hills, NY, he was the son of the late Luigi and Maria (Sorbello) Gatto.

Frank graduated from Bedford Hills High School. After high school, he joined the US Army and served as a Sergeant during the Korean Conflict.

Frank retired as Regional Manager in 1990 from Suburban Propane of Glens Falls after 35 years of service.

On January 15, 1954, he married the love of his life, Barbara Burt, at St. Francis Church in Mt. Kisco, NY. They were married for 58 years.

They lived in Croton Falls, NY for many years. Frank coached little league and was a CYO basketball coach. He donated a lot of time to kids and helped shape their lives.

Frank was an avid golfer and a former member of the Tee Bird Country Club where he and his wife golfed in the couples league. He was a big Cleveland Indians fan.

He was a dedicated family man and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his 2 brothers Joseph and John Gatto.

Left to cherish his memories is his beloved wife, Barbara Gatto of Argyle, NY; his 3 daughters, Catherine Gatto of Bedford Hills, NY, Barbara Rizzotti and her husband Al of Brewster, NY and Gina Gatto of Campbell Hall, NY; his son, Frank Gatto of Bedford Hills, NY and his 2 grandchildren, Matthew and Amanda Rizzotti of Brewster, NY and his many friends.

At Frank’s request, there will be no calling hours.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at St. Joseph Church, 164 Broadway, Fort Edward, with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor, and the Rev. Joseph X. Arockiasamy, pastor at St. Mary’s Church, Granville, con celebrating.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fort Edward, NY.

The family suggests that donations be made in Frank’s memory to C.R. Wood Cancer Center, c/o Glens Falls Hospital Foundation, 237 Glen St, Glens Falls, NY 12801 or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942
