Obituary for Frederick J. Light
FORT EDWARD -
Frederick J. Light, 72, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, NY.
Born February 16, 1941 in Fort Edward, NY, he was the son of the late Anthony and Ida (Upton) Light.
On March 29, 1969, Fred married the love of his life, Darlene Suddard, at St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward, NY.
Fred was proud to be a custodian for the Hudson Falls Central School district where he retired on December 31, 2001 after 37 years of service. After his retirement, he always commented on how much he missed the children and the teachers.
Fred will always be remembered for his smiles and his laughter. He was loved by all his family and friends, and was especially well liked in the community. He could often be found having coffee with the girls at Stewarts, or making homemade bread. His faithful dog Lady was always by his side.
In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his sisters; Ida Nye, Virginia Woodard, and Katherine Stevenson, and his brother Anthony Light, Jr.
Fred is survived by his wife of 44 years, Darlene Light, his sisters; Katherine Cadieux of Plattsburgh, Joanne Dubuke of Plattsburg, Linda Goucher and her husband Gerald of Keeseville, and Donna Conlon and her husband Robert of South Glens Falls, his brother George Light of Hudson Falls, and John Light and his wife Cheryl of West Chazy, and his sisters-in law; Joyce Pliscofsky of South Glens Falls, Caroline Rabine of Fort Edward, Maisie Suddard of Fort Edward, and Gail Suddard of Glens Falls, as well as many nieces and nephews.
At Fred’s request, there will be no calling hours.
A Memorial service will be held at 4pm on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828. To leave online condolences or to view Fred’s Book of Memories, please visit www.kilmerfuneralhome.com.
