Obituary for Gary Morehouse Sr.

Fort Edward

Gary Morehouse Sr., 61, of McCrea Street, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at his home.

Born on Feb. 8, 1946, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Claude A. and Beaula L. (Moores) Morehouse.

Gary married Candace Moss in 1976 at St. James Episcopal Church in Fort Edward. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving from 1963-1966, and was an Army Reservist until 1981.

Gary was employed by Meads Nursery in Glens Falls as an irrigation specialist for many years.

He enjoyed life and his wife, his children and his grandchildren. He was a true "Mr Fix-It" and loved tinkering.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Aiden Morehouse, his brother, Arnold Morehouse, his nephews, Terry Lee, Aaron Lettuce and Michael Younes, and his father-in-law, Frederick A. Moss.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Candace; his son, Gary Morehouse Jr. of Fort Edward; and his daughter, Tamica Morehouse and her fiancé, Robert Saddlemire, both of Fort Edward; his two "special addition" children, Jason Wilcox of South Glens Falls and Kimberly Barrett of Queensbury; and one Fresh Air Child, Nicole Harris of New York City; who has been coming to their home for the last 20 years. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Amelia Joy Morehouse of Glens Falls, Dylan Saddlemire of Granville, Cheyenne and Maddy Gaiser of Queensbury, Nolan and Ivy Wilcox of South Glens Falls, and Shiana Harris of New York City. Survivors also include his brothers: Leslie "Peanut" Morehouse and his wife, Cathy, of Brant Lake, Gary's twin brother, Larry Morehouse of Illion, NY; Terry "Shotgun" Morehouse of Fort Edward, Jeffrey Morehouse and his wife, Gail, of Fort Edward, Gilbert Morehouse of Hudson Falls, and Timothy Morehouse of Troy; and his sisters: Betty Stevens of Queensbury, Claudia Elms of Randolph, VT.; Bonnie Bennett and her husband, Royal, of Warrensburg; Kathleen Morehouse of Texas; Deborah Anthony and her husband, Gerald, of Mohawk, and Kelly Golden of Fort Edward; his mother-in-law, Shirley Moss of Hudson Falls, and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Feb 19, at 11a.m. at the funeral home, with Father Charles B. King Jr. officiating.

A reception will follow at St. James Episcopal Church on Broadway in Fort Edward.

Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, with full military honors.
