Gary C. Smith, 78, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born on July 14, 1945, in Fort Edward, he was the son of the late Ralph Smith.
Gary graduated from Fort Edward High School. He worked for Decora and the Fort Edward School.
On September 9, 2000, Gary married his best friend, Betty “Vinnie” Colvin in Fort Edward.
Gary enjoyed music, the drums, boating on the Hudson, doing puzzles, playing corn hole, and having family BBQ’s. He was an avid NY Giants fan and loved hockey.
He was a lifetime member of the Fort Edward Fire Company with over 50 years of service. Gary was also a member of the Vagabonds Senior Drum and Bugle Corp and the Capital Brass Senior Drum and Bugle Corp.
Gary will always be remembered for his witty one liners.
In addition to his father, Gary was predeceased by the woman who brought him up, Anna Bennett.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 22 years, Betty; his children, Brian Smith and his significant other, Amy Miller, and Nicole Smith; his granddaughter, Kaylie Smith; his close friends, Jerome “Fitzy” Dragon and Howard Miles; his beloved dog, Bailey.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 10am on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the funeral home.
Rite of Committal will be conducted following the funeral service at Union Cemetery.
