George L. Cary, 84, of Argyle, died Saturday January 22, 2005, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT.

Born on September 23, 1920, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late A. Haywood and Mary (Henderson) Cary.

George graduated from Fort Edward High School and from SUNY Cobleskill in 1940.

He was a truck driver for Agway for 22 years and was a member of the Argyle United Presbyterian Church where he had served as an elder for six years. He was the former Fire Chief for the Cossayuna Volunteer Fire Department an a member of the Cossayuna Ten Point Fish & Game Club.

George married Susanna (Bodkin) Cary on October 1, 1944.

Besides his parents, his three bothers, James, Fred and Anson Cary, and one sister, Lucille Dart also predeceased him.

Survivors besides his wife of 60 years of Argyle,include his daughter, Eileen C. Jackson and her husband, Gordon Jr., of Argyle; his son, Lawrence H. Cary and his wife, Lois L., of Glendale, Ariz.; his grandchildren; Joseph Jackson and his wife Donna, Heide Javurek and her husband, Kenneth, Lisa Poulin and her husband, Michael and Lawrence J. Cary and his fiancee, Karisa Marshall; his great-grandchildren, Michael Cary Poulin, Logan Michael Veeder and Jackson Miles Javurek; his borthers, William Cary and his wife, Joyce of Cobelskill, Richard Cary of Easton and Carius Cary and his wife, Cessie of Prescott, Ariz.; his three sisters, A. Eloise White of Johnston, Mary Alice Spaulding of Husdon Falls, Marcia Bunzey and her husband Richard of Lake Placid, Fla.; his sister-in-law, Helen Cary of Johnston, and Elise Bodkin of Montana; his brother-in-law, Albert Dart of Altamont; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m Monday January 24, 2005 at the M.B Kilmer Funeral Home 123 Main Street Argyle, NY 12809.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m tuesday, Jy 25, 2005 at the Argyle United Presbyterian Church, Main Street Argyle, with Rev. Stephen McLean, pastor of, officiating.

Immediately following services, family and friends are invited to a reception in the fellowship hall at the church.
