SOUTH GLENS FALLS

George ”Jack” Mervin Provost, 88, died Monday, December 10, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Provost was born September 17, 1924 in Whitehall, NY to Wilfred and Mary Provost. On Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1949, he married Marie King. He retired from the Village of South Glens Falls Department of Public Works.

Jack enjoyed hunting camp, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He could always be found socializing with his friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Provost was predeceased by his wife Marie, his brothers Peter, Vincent, Robert, and Andrew, and his sister Veronica.

Jack is survived by four children, Phyllis Chandler (Joe) of Dawsonville, GA, Sue MacMore (Bruce) of South Glens Falls, NY, Joan Drollette (Mark) of South Glens Falls, NY, and William Provost (Kim) of Queensbury. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Jason MacMore (Meghan), Heather Smith (Adam), Ann Marie Eichelberger (Chad), Chad MacMore (Rose), Bradley Provost, Eric Seabury, Travis LaPrairie, Ashley Provost, and Logan Drollette, two great grandchildren, Zoe Smith and Chandler Eichelberger, his sister-in-laws Joan Provost, Joan Vaughn, and Barbara Buckely (Tom), and several nieces and nephews.

At Jack’s request, there will be no calling hours.

Friends may join the family at a graveside service, Thursday, December 13th at 2pm, at Pine View Cemetery, with Rev. Guy A. Childs officiating.

Arrangments are under the care of M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home.
