Gerald Francis "Jerry"  Degnan Jr.
Gerald “Jerry” Degnan, age 77, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014, at the Glens Falls Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born March 31, 1936, in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Gerald Francis Degnan and Sarah Frances (Atchinson) Degnan. He was a parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in South Glens Falls.

From 1955 to 1958, Jerry served his country in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged.

On June 13, 1981 he married Faylene “Fay” Cross in the Fortsville United Methodist Church.

For over 30 years Jerry worked for National Cash Register (NCR) as an office machine repairman. His territory of responsibility covered a large area of the northeastern United States, and he often travelled to Ohio for training and education with the company.

He was a long time member and original founder of Gold Wing Road Riders, Chapter J. He and his wife were avid motorcycle riders and travelled to all of the 48 contiguous states in America. He volunteered to work at countless Americade rallies in Lake George, and many other motorcycle events. He was also a member of the Adirondack Riders in Hudson Falls.

In his later years Jerry became very interested in Lhasa Apso dogs, and eventually decided to breed them. He and his wife raised several of these dogs and they became a part of their family. He also became a member of Good Sam’s Campers.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was predeceased by his son, Michael Degnan; his sister, Judith; and two of his four-legged friends, Corky and Patches.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 33 years, Fay Degnan; his children: Timothy Degnan, Linda Gagliardi, Steven Degnan and his wife, Tammy, Jay Degnan and his wife, Sandy, Terri Simione, and Wesley Lee and his wife, Samantha; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and his two Lhasa Apso constant companions PupPup and Melody.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Michael’s Church on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Guy A. Childs, pastor, officiating.

Burial with military honors will take place at Saratoga National Cemetery following the funeral service.
