Obituary for Gertrude "Trudy" Ward (Fish)

Gerturde "Trudy" E. Ward, 90, of East Street, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2014 at Glens Falls Hospital.

She was born July 20, 1924, in Glens Falls, New York, and married Thomas G. Ward of Glens Falls in 1946.

Trudy had a love for English and British literature and continuous learning. In 1996 she received a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and English Literature in addition to her degree in British Literature. Trudy enjoyed reading, poetry and her cats. She was a member of the Adirondack Friends Meeting in South Glens Falls.

She will be remembered for her fun-loving spirit.

She is survived by two sisters, Ruth Smith of South Glens Falls and Ardine Southwick of New Hartford, NY; a brother- in-law, Dr. J. Paul Ward and his wife Doris of Albany; four children, Thomas Ward of Ashland, OR; Timothy Ward and his wife Mary of Whitehall, NY; Jonathan Ward and his wife Barbara of Kingsbury, NY; one daughter, Jennifer Ward of Shushan, NY: five grandsons; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Hazel Fish, and husband, Thomas.

At Trudy's request there will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Adirondack Friends Meetinghouse, 27 Saratoga Avenue, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

In lieu of memorial donations Trudy has suggested that you complete a random act of kindness and if you are so inclined donations can be made to Argyle Free Library or charity of ones choice.
