Gordon Miller Reed Jr., 77, of Washington Rd. passed away on Wednesday December 7, 2016 at his home with his family by his side.

Born in Troy, NY on March 27, 1939, he was the son of the late, Gordon M. and Viola R. (Smith) Reed Sr.

Gordon attended Mechanicville High School where he graduated in the class of 1956. After graduation he enrolled at Hudson Valley Tech earning his Associates degree in 1958.

On April 11, 1959, at twenty years old, Gordon married the love of his life, Gladys “Dee” Perkins in Mechanicville, NY and the marriage was officiated by, Father Fields.

In 1958 after completing his college studies he gained employment with Black Clawson, where he worked until 1967. From 1967 through 1997, Gordon worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Finch Pryun, where he retired after 30 years in May of 1997.

Gordon enjoyed many outdoor activities including camping, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and gardening. He always looked forward to his meeting his old Finch Pryun friends for breakfast at the Peppermill in South Glens Falls but most of all loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Gordon is predeceased by his sister, Marilyn Skinnerup and his grandson, Kyle Reed Laing.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Gladys “Dee” (Perkins) Reed; his sons, David Reed and his wife, Diane, of Queensbury and Robert Reed and his fiance, Lucy, of Colonie; his daughter, Sue Laing and her husband, Andy, of South Glens Falls; his granddaughter, Scotti Bruno and her husband, Alex, of Patchogue, LI; his grandson, Justin Reed, of Saratoga; his granddaughter, Ashley Reed, of Glens Falls; his grandsons, Jared and Ryan Reed, of Scotia; his grandson, Derek Laing, of South Glens Falls; his granddaughter, Nicole Laing, of South Glens Falls; his great grandsons, Alessandro and Nathaniel Bruno, of Patchogue, LI; his great granddaughter, Aryanna Brown, of Glens Falls, Nancy Rivers of Stilwater, Janice Bovat, and Evelyn Marshall both of Mechanicville, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to call from 2-4pm on Saturday December 10, 2016 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St. So. Glens Falls, NY 12803.

A funeral service will be held following calling hours at 4 pm.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
