Guido O.  Sassone
SOUTH GLENS FALLS -

Guido O. Sassone, 76, of Hudson Street, passed away Thursday at his home.

Born on October 13, 1933 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Carmela (Foligno) Sassone.

Guido attended St. Mary’s Academy for 11 years and graduated from Glens Falls High in 1951. He served in the US Army in the Medical Corp. during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Encore Paper in South Glens Falls after many years of service. Following his retirement he worked with his son-in-law, at Beach Road Bait and Tackle in Lake George. On May 9, 1959, he married Helen Jane Moser at St. Michael’s Church with the Rev. Peter Kranch, officiating. Guido enjoyed fishing, gardening, the Yankee’s, old movies, his dog Gus but most of all his family and he was very close to his grandchildren, and his brothers and sisters. He was a member of the Bay Meadow’s Golf Club, the Glens Falls Elks B.P.O.E #81 and a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Matthew Sassone.

Survivors besides his wife of 51 years include his children, Salvatore R. Sassone and his wife Kiri of Acworth, GA, Catherine A. Mularz and her husband Marc of Lake George, and Scott A. Sassone of South Glens Falls; his grandchildren, Timothy M. Sassone, Daniel J. Sassone, B. Renee Sassone, Jamie Sassone, Duncan J. Mularz and Clark R. Mularz; his brothers, Mario J. Sassone and his companion Ellen Chadwick, Anthony P. Sassone and his wife Marcella all of South Glens Falls; his sisters, Ann Lampkins and Lucy Cook and her husband Ronald all of South Glens Falls; his sisters-in-law, Sister Robert Marie S.S.N.D of Trumble, CT and Valarie Knapp of Menlo Park, CA as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00am Tuesday, May 25, 2010 St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Avenue, South Glens Falls with the Rev. Guy A. Childs, pastor, officiating.

The Rite of Committal will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, So. Glens Falls. Following the Committal services a reception will be held at St. Michael’s parish hall

The family would like to thank Dr. Tedesco, Joyce and Sabrina, Dr. Martello and Trish and, Dr. Kline and his staff at the Fletcher Allen Memorial Hospital in Burlington, Vt. for all their wonderful care. The family would also like to acknowledge the Moreau Emergency Squad for their professionalism and compassion as well as the South Glens Falls Police Dept. and Chief Kevin Judd.
