GLENS FALLS -
Helen M. Tidd, age 86, passed away on Saturday July 17, 2010 at her home with her husband at her side.

Born on May 11, 1925 in Hudson Falls, Helen was the daughter of Joseph and Wladyslawa “Violet” (Stankowski) Urbonowicz. She graduated from Argyle High School, class of 1943.

On September 7, 1974, Helen was married to John Warren Tidd by Reverend John Mea in St. Joseph’s Church, Fort Edward. John and Helen went on to share 36 years of their lives together, being each others constant companion.

Helen worked for many years as a shipping and receiving clerk for Native Textiles in Glens Falls, having retired in 1988 after serving for 33 years. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls and St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward.

Helen loved the ocean, vacationing in Maine in the summers and at Dayton Beach Shores, Florida in the winters.

In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by an infant sister; two sisters, Catherine Urbonowicz and Edith Kennedy; a brother, James Urbonowicz; a niece, Kathryn Smith; and two nephews, Reginald “Reggie” Martin and John Urbonowicz.

She is survived by her husband, John Warren Tidd of Glens Falls; her step-children, William Edward Tidd and his wife Sandy of Fort Edward, John “Jack” Warren Tidd, Jr., his wife Tina of Kingsbury, JoAnn E, Bielkiewicz and her husband Gregory of Schuylerville, and Diana Ross of Hudson Falls; her two grandddaughters, Melissa Ross of Montgomery, NY and Jessica Tidd of Kingsbury; her sisters, Stella Salembier of Saratoga, Rachael Williamson of Saratoga, Adella Konopka of Fort Edward and Dorothy Porter of Hudson Falls, and as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on the family from 4 to 7 p.m Monday July 19, 2010 at the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls. Online condolences may be posted at kilmerfuneralhome.com.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m Tuesday July 20, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Church, 164 Broadway, Fort Edward, with Helen’s nephew, the Reverend Thomas E. Konopka, officiating.

The Rite of Committal will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Warren County Hospice and the C.R. Wood Cancer Center for their care and compassion shown to Helen, as well as her many close neighbors who supported the family during Helen’s illness.
