HUDSON FALLS

Howard O. Patten, 85, of Hudson Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Glens Falls Hospital, with his loving family by his side.

Born April 27,1928, in Adamsville, NY, he was the son of the late James F. and Evelyn (Walsh) Patten.

Howard attended Hartford Central School before joining the United States Army in 1948. He was stationed in Munich, Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1952 with the rank of Corporal.

In 1961, Howard married the love of his life, Lois Turner, in Truthville, NY.

Howard was a member of the Local 773 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union for 56 years, having joined in 1957. He served as an Executive Board Member for 12 years, and was the Vice President for 8 years before his retirement on July 1, 1990. He was also a member of the Goodnow Flow Association since 1961 and was an avid deer hunter. Camp was a special place where he spent time with his family, and his children spent several weeks there while they were growing up. Howard was a NY Giants fan and a Boston Red Sox fan. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family, sharing much laughter and stories during many friendly poker games.

In addition to his parents, Howard was predeceased by his siblings; Edward, James, Clifford, Richard, Raymond, and Kay Patten, and Dorothy Claire, and his brothers and sisters-in law; Viola Patten, Harvey Dessaint, Don Flynn, Glendon Claire, Romeo Paradis, and Frank Duel.

Howard is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lois Patten, his daughter Robin and John “Jack” Weaver, a son Howard “Hogie” Patten and his wife Dayrene, a daughter, Tina Tidd and her husband John “Jack”, and a son, Scott Patten and his wife Franca. Howard is also survived by four grandchildren; Christopher Patten, Danverse Patten, Jessica Tidd, and Shalyn Patten, six siblings; Ida Dessaint, Robert Patten, Betty Duel, Mildred Paradis, Elaine Benson, Gladys Flynn, and sisters-in law Darlene Patten and Carol Patten.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 2pm at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the service at Union Cemetery, Fort Edward, NY.
