Obituary for Irene Beane (Stewart)

Irene Beane, 94, of Route 197, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on Dec. 18, 1919 in Greenwich, she was the daughter of William J. and Clara (Clough) Stewart.

Irene was a 1938 graduate of Greenwich High School and a lifetime Deaconess and member at Lakeville Baptist Church in Cossayuna since 1927. She began working for Dave Sheridan in “the Barn” and continued working at Sheridan Catheter and Sherwood Medical for 22 years. On March 22, 1941 she married Joseph P. Beane, who passed away on May 18, 1986. They enjoyed traveling, and she spent 25 winters in Florida and three in San Diego, California. She was a member of the Hebron Valley Grange, Eastern Star, the Argyle Senior Citizens and the Just-A-Mere Club.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Lawrence J. Martel; her brothers, Ernest J. Stewart, Edward Stewart (Dorothy); her sisters, Shirley M. King (Edward “Sonny”), Doris A. Blagg, Gloria M. Goodrich (John), and Charlotte MacEwan (Irving “Bud”); and her sister-in-law, Thelma Stewart.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Patricia Martel and Phyllis Rainville (Frederick); sister, Anna Mae Leary; brothers, Walter G. Stewart and Clifford A. Stewart (Janet); her sister-in-law, Ruth Stewart; her grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) and Michele Martel, Antoine (Marcia), Brandon (Eileen), Thomas (Karen) and Joseph (Cari) Rainville; six great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Service will be conducted 11am on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Lakeville Baptist Church, Route 49, Cossayuna, NY 12823 with the Rev. Sandra Spaulding, Pastor, officiating.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 2:00pm on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Evergreen Cemetery, Salem.
