Obituary for J. David Mullen

J. David Mullen
Hudson Falls

J. David “Moose” Mullen, 76, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 31, 2013, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on December 11, 1936 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late James “Bud” and Florence (Chenier) Mullen. David was a 1955 graduate from St. Mary’s Academy. He went on to Utica College (NY), St. Anslem College (NH) and was a member of the New Hampshire Air National Guard.

David was a local businessman in welding and fabrication for the past 50 years. When not working, Dave loved spending time on Lake George or going out to dinner with friends and family. He also loved traveling. David’s love of travel started in his youth with a trip to the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. Over the decades, he traveled to Canada, Mexico and around the US, mostly by car. This car travel instilled a huge love of cars of which he owned dozens of unique and beautiful ones. In his later years, Dave always spoke of traveling to Ireland to pay homage to his heritage.

David is survived by his wife of fifty years, Caroline (Smith); his five children: Donna Mullen and her husband, Ross Hein of Gansevoort, Jon and Leslie Mullen of Moreau, Jay Mullen and his partner Michele Barlow of Hartford, Anne (Mullen) and Jerome Rossi of St Michael, MN, and Marsha Mullen and Mark Beck of Pittsburgh, PA; his eight grandchildren: Emily Hein, Jacob and Joshua Mullen, Randi Lee Norton (Mullen) and James Mullen, Kaitie and Aubrey Rossi, and Ethan Beck; and one great-grandson, Caden Norton. Dave enjoyed spending time at large, raucous family gatherings with them all.
